*It is extremely important that you review this information carefully so that you are sure that those who survive you will receive the benefits from SDCERS that you intend for them to receive. "Survivor Benefits for Retirees" begins on page 4 of the document. Most of this information is new and may be somewhat different than what you had in the past. If you have any of the old Death Benefits booklets provided by SDCERS you should throw them out and go by this new information.

*If you cannot view and print the factsheet from the link above contact the SDCERS Call Center at 619-525-3600 and have a copy sent to you.

PRE & POST DEATH PLANNING

....an online booklet from DUNAMAI Ministries that can be accessed at: www.dunamai.net
If you have a loved one who is suffering a terminal illness, or you have experienced a sudden death in the family, the decisions you may need to make may be unfamiliar and involve matters that you may not have previously considered.

By going to the website and clicking on any of the sections in blue on the left hand side you will be able to access information and resources to help you through these difficult times. It is our hope that you will read this information “before death occurs” in order to help you prepare while your mind is more focused and it is easier to concentrate on these matters.

AFTER DEATH OCCURS

If you need additional assistance “after a death has occurred”, please contact HAND-IN-HAND at Hand-in-Hand@cox.net or 619-561-5985, where a caring counselor is there to provide assistance. For more information on Hand-in-Hand look elsewhere on this Retired Fire & Police website.
